Janice Chappie

Janice M. Chappie, 78, of Maidencreek Township, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Donald G. Chappie, who passed away January 8, 2008. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert R. and Mary E. (Shultz) Gottschall. She attended Exeter High School, and worked as a tennis instructor for many years until her retirement. Janice attended Exeter Quaker Meeting House, and was a member of Hillcrest Racquet Club. She wrote many children's books and poetry. Janice loved to travel and spend time with her family, friends, and her dog Arthur.

Janice is survived by her daughter Connie M. Cammarano, wife of Joe, of Blandon, her grandchildren Joey and Matthew, her brothers Bruce Gottschall, Milton Gottschall, husband of Carol, and Clay Gottschall, husband of Louise, her sister Lois A. Miller, widow of Bruce, and her sister-in-law Eileen Gottschall. She was preceded in death by her son Damon M. Chappie, and her brother Thomas A. Gottschall.

A visitation with friends and family will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Exeter Quaker Meeting House at 191 Meetinghouse Rd, Douglassville, PA 19518, the Animal Rescue League at 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508, or to Opportunity House at PO Box 12303 Reading, PA 19612.
