Mary Elizabeth Kennedy, 94, of Exeter Township, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Berkshire Center. She was the widow of Thomas Kennedy, who passed away January 17, 1999. Born in St. Lawrence, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Bertha (Brumbach) Levan. Mary was a graduate of Reading High School and Albright College with a Bachelor of Science Degree.. She then worked as a chemist for Beryllium Corporation during WWII, where she met her future husband. Mary later earned her teaching certificate from Kutztown University in Library Science and was a librarian in the Reading School District for over 20 years. She served as a Campfire Girls leader in St. Lawrence and was a charter member of Community United Church of Christ in St. Lawrence.
Mary is survived by: Two Sons: John T., husband of Marcia, and Kevin S., husband of Sally, both of Exeter Township; Three Daughters: Barbara L. widow of Paul Tobler, of Leesburg, VA, Kathleen K., wife of David Wilkinson, of Mt. Airy, MD, and Gwen L., wife of Kurt Zaspel, III, of Pittsburgh; Sixteen Grandchildren and Eight Great-Grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her two brothers, Kenneth and David Levan. Services and Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League P.O. Box 69 Mohnton, PA 19540.
