Judith D Knauer

August 12, 1942 — July 23, 2021

Judith Dianne (Vlot) Knauer, an Allentown native and former member of the newsroom administrative staff of the Allentown Morning Call newspaper, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Cathedral Village Retirement Community of complications from Alzheimer's disease, she was 78.

Daughter of the late Teunis and Naomi (Gable) Vlot, Mrs. Knauer is survived by two sons, David Joseph Hasbrouck of Havertown, Pa., and Joshua Stuart Hasbrouck of Center Valley, Pa.; a former husband Allan Meyer Hasbrouck of Philadelphia. She is also survived by three grandchildren.

Mrs. Knauer was predeceased in May 2020 by her husband, the late Joseph D. Knauer Jr., of Reading. She and Mr. Knauer, a well-known auto-racing enthusiast on the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) circuit, traveled extensively throughout the Eastern United States to attend SCCA races, in some of which Mr. Knauer competed. They were longtime residents of Reading.

Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Knauer managed the pool of cars maintained by The Morning Call for its reporters and photographers to use covering regional news events. As a result, she was in frequent contact with, and widely and affectionately known by the newsroom staff of that era, the 1970's.
