Edward J Kurtz Sr.

January 22, 1929 — April 14, 2023

Edward J. Kurtz, 94, of Reading, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Rittenhouse Senior Living. He was the husband of Ethel (Hodgkins) Kurtz with whom he celebrated 72 years of marriage. Born in Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Stanley and Stella (Butsack) Kurtz. Edward was a member of Adamstown Fish & Game and the Perry Gun Club as well as The Polish Falcons. He was also a lifelong member of Hunters Haven Camp of Sullivan County. Edward enjoyed a 22 year career at Armour Star and then was employed at Forest Hills Memorial Park as a groundskeeper until his retirement.

Ed is survived by his wife Ethel and his children; Barry Kurtz, husband of Nancy A., Edward J. Kurtz Jr., husband of Jodi, and Deborah McCullough, widow of James. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Sean, Matthew, Carissa, Zachary, Weston, and Tanner, as well as his great-grandchildren; Abigail, Gabrielle, and Cole.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from 9:00am to 10:00am with services beginning at 10:00am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairview Mennonite Church, 1701 Fairview St. Reading, Pa 19606 .
