Evelyn Lachman

Evelyn F. Lachman, 80, formerly of Reading, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in Phoebe Berks Healthcare Center. She was the wife of Gustav E. Lachman, Jr., who passed away in 1993. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Franklin and Katie (Fritz) Schmeck. Evelyn graduated from Reading High School in 1955 and was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church. She was a cashier for Acme Markets, then a daycare worker for Antietam Academy. Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Kenneth J. Lachman of Franklin, WI and Mark D. Lachman of Oley; one daughter, Linda Joy wife of Ronald Sands of Hamburg; one grandson, Michael Stewart; and two great-granddaughters, Zoe Moyer and Lorelei Stewart. She was pre-deceased by her sister Thelma Wagner. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday August 22, 2018, from 12 noon to 1:00 pm with services beginning at 1:00 pm in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading. Interment will be at Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township.
