Deborah Leinbach

August 16, 1917 — April 23, 2016

Deborah A. Leinbach
Deborah A. Leinbach, 98, passed away at the Villa St. Elizabeth.
She was the daughter and ninth child of the late William and Katie Leinbach. She is survived by brother Harold (Abe) Leinbach of East Lansing, Michigan, and was pre-deceased by ten siblings: Sarah, Elizabeth, John, William, George, Albert, Emma, Mary, Margaret, and Susan.

She graduated from Mt. Penn High School and the McCann School of Business. She began working in Philadelphia in the 1930’s and then worked for the Reading Automobile Club, retiring in the 1980’s. She volunteered at the Community U.C.C. Nursery School for many years.

She was one of the last founding members of Community U.C.C. when it was formed as St. Lawrence Evangelical and Reformed in the early 1950’s and sang in the choir until just a few years ago. She was honored with a religious banner in the front of the church in 2008.

Anyone who knew her never saw her become angry. It was not in her personality. She was a sweet person, the most commonly used term to describe her, and this characteristic came through in her specialty – desserts. She and sister Susan never married, instead opting to take care of their mother, Katie. Deborah lived in her St. Lawrence home until she suffered a stroke in 2011.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in Community U.C.C., 3330 St. Lawrence Ave., Reading, PA 19606. Inurnment in Schwarzwald Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Community U.C.C. at the above stated address. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Penn in charge of arrangements.
