Ruth Lewars

Ruth M. Lewars, 88, of Exeter, passed away, Wednesday, August 2nd, 2017 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She was the wife of John G. Lewars who passed away on May 1, 2011. Born in Reading she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Horst) Himmelberger. Ruth was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School and a member of Schwarzwald UCC. Ruth worked for the Bell Telephone Company before becoming a full-time homemaker and mother. Later in life she worked for the Exeter Township School District. Ruth enjoyed bird watching, gardening, cooking and being at craft shows to sell John's woodcarvings; but most of all she loved being with her family. She touched the lives of many people.
Ruth is survived by one son James A. Lewars husband of Bonita of St. Lawrence, two daughters Linda M. Lewars financee of Tom DiSalvo of Exeter, Kathy A. wife of Kelly Rohrbach of Cumru Township. Ruth is also survived by four grandchildren Matthew Lewars (Courtney), Christopher Lewars (Carolyn), Bram Rohrbach, Hailey Rohrbach, one great granddaughter Scarlette, one brother Donald A. Himmelberger and one sister Mary L. Downey. Ruth was pre deceased by her brothers Carl, Richard and Paul.
Interment is private at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 26th at Schwarzwald UCC, 75 Church Lane Rd, Reading. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ruth’s name may be made to Scharwarzwald UCC, 75 Church Lane Road, Reading, PA 19606 or the American Heart Association, 968 Postal Road, Suite 110, Allentown, Pennsylvania 18109.
