Lois G. (Ulmer) Zeigenfuse

April 25, 1935 — March 31, 2025

Lois G. Zeigenfuse, 89, of Reading, passed away on March 31, 2025 at the Pottstown Hospital.

Born on April 25, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Raymond P. Ulmer and Dorothy (Allers) Ulmer of Laureldale. Lois was a graduate of Muhlenberg High School, where she received business and secretarial training.

Lois married Gerald R. (Jerry) Zeigenfuse on October 10, 1953 and they enjoyed 64 years together. She was a devoted wife, supporting Jerry in his career and model airplane hobby. With her usual enthusiasm, she participated in practically every aspect of the hobby except building and flying the planes herself.

Lois was a loving and supportive mother. She attended her children's school events, served as a Cub Scout den mother and Camp Fire Girl leader, and supported them in their athletic endeavors. Throughout their lives, she was their biggest fan and cheerleader. She nurtured independence but was always available to provide help and advice and patch them up after misadventures.

Lois was a core member of a card club that she and her friends formed in the 1950s. She relished those friendships as the women enjoyed and supported each other through decades of life changes.

In the late 1960s, Lois began working part-time as a Tupperware representative. Afterwards, she became a bookkeeper for Schmeck's Villa restaurant. She also handled the personal bookkeeping for the restaurant owner and continued to do so for 40 years. In the 1980s, she worked for Advanced Automation Associates of Exton with her husband and two sons. For several years, she performed all three of the latter jobs simultaneously.

Lois was active, energetic, and tireless, loving and loyal. Her organizational skills were legendary. She was acknowledged as the life of the party at Keystone Villa of Douglassvile, where she resided in her later years. She will be remembered for her dedication to family, her close friendships, her love of fun and laughter, and her calm in the face of emergencies.

Lois was predeceased by her husband Gerald and their daughter, Betty Jane.

She is survived by her children: JoAnn Keosaian, wife of David, of Ann Arbor, MI; Robert Zeigenfuse, husband of Banjira, of Boynton Beach, FL; Edward Zeigenfuse, husband of Judy, of Mohnton; John Zeigenfuse of Pottstown; Barry Zeigenfuse, husband of Katie, of Morgantown; Carol Asterino of Reading; and David Zeigenfuse, husband of Jennifer, of Reading.

Also surviving are her grandchildren: Holly Vernay; Justin Zeigenfuse; Jack Zeigenfuse; Lynn Hatton; Nina Eidam; Adam and Christina Sullivan; Joseph Asterino III; and Stephen, Lily, and Haley Zeigenfuse. Also her great-grandchildren: Garret and Griffin Vernay; Chase Zeigenfuse; Ariana Selas; Brock Sullivan; Courtney, Caleb, Colbie, and Caylee Hatton; Raelynn and Avery Eidam; and Atticus Zeigenfuse.
