Harold P. "Pete" Long

Harold P. "Pete" Long, 95, of Exeter Township, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, in Reading Hospital. He was the husband of the late Helen F. (Owens) Long, who passed away June 2019. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Harold L. and Catherine R. (Pawling) Long. Pete graduated from Reading High School class of 1943, and then attended East Stroudsburg State Teachers College where he obtained a B.S in Health & Physical Education. Pete was the past President of Wernersville JC's, Old Reading Deer Camp, Southern Jr. High Hall of Fame, East Reading Swim Assn., PIAA Official - Soccer, Swimming, Football, American Legion Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. Pete proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. He spent his career as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 32 years, retiring in 1981.

Pete is survived by his children, Peter J. Long husband of Lori, Berwyn, PA; Loraine wife of Dr. Stephen Kielceski, Montrose, PA; Patrice, Reading, PA; Barbara wife of Dr. Steven Wilbraham, Philadelphia; and 12 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. Also surviving is his sister Jean C. widow of Floyd Riggle, Easton, PA.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home 2100 Perkiomen Ave, Mt Penn 19606. Service will be private. Interment will be at Aulenbach's Cemetery, 20th & Perkiomen Avenue Reading, Pa 19606 . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Old Reading Deer, 546 Westwind Dr. Berwyn, Pa 19312.
