George R Lorah Jr., 89, of Exeter Township, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, in his home. Born in Oley, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late George Lorah and Kate (Readinger) Lorah. George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he was a tank mechanic stationed in Germany in the 124th Ord.Co.Unit, also known as "Hell on Wheels”. Some favorite pastimes included local motor sports, golf, and faithfully completing Reading Times Crossword Puzzles. An avid gardener, George generously shared bushels of produce with family and friends. He was especially proud of his ever-expanding tulip and daffodil display. George was a steel worker for Columbian Cutlery until his retirement.
George is survived by his children; Terry A. Lorah, husband of Debra, Reading, Barry Lorah, husband of Cindy, Brandon, Mississippi, and Shelley Lorah, London, England. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Dr. Abigail Lorah, wife of Dr. Andrew “Andy" Ambort, Rebecca Lorah, and Christopher Lorah, Laura McLaine, and Eric McLaine, as well as his sisters; Emily Dengler, and Pearl Sutter, both of Exeter Township. George was predeceased by his former wife, Juanita (Sutter), sisters, Edna and Sara, and his brothers, Lester, John, Paul, and David.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Mt. Penn, PA 19606. Interment will be at Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
