John E. "Wedge" Lutz Iii

January 11, 1954 — June 1, 2018

John E. "Wedge" Lutz, III, 64, of Fountain Hills, AZ, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 1, 2018 in Scottsdale, AZ.
Wedge was known for his big heart, his infectious positive attitude, and his love for country, family and God. He was born January 11, 1954 in Reading, PA, where he spent most of his life. Wedge graduated from Exeter High School in 1971, served in the United States Army 2nd Ranger Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment from 1974-1977 and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He married his beloved wife Sue R. (Witman) Lutz in 1979 and raised three loving sons. He was totally dedicated to his children in all aspects of their lives. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. His love for the outdoors led to his construction business Lutz Masonry and later Armor Design Build. He was an active member of his church (Reformed Living Bible Church), participated in the choir and the prison ministry.
We cannot always understand why things happen the way they do, but one thing we do know is that Wedge’s life was well lived. He loved and served others and on his coronation day he heard “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
In addition to his wife Sue, Wedge is survived by his three sons, Seth D. husband of Jayme of Phoenix, AZ, Adam husband of Anna of Alameda, CA and Grant husband of Barbara of Fortson, GA. He was a proud Opa to four grandchildren Isaac, Abigail, Judah and Charlotte. He was a son of the late J. Elmer "Buddy" Lutz, Jr. and Janet P. Lutz of Exeter. Also survived and fondly remembered by two brothers John C. "Putter" husband of Kim of Oley, John F. "Chip" II, husband of Bonnie of Exeter; and one sister Courtney L. Gallagher wife of Thomas of Haddam, CT. Services will be private. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers Wedge had requested that donations be made to KPXQ Radio Ministries (http://faithtalk1360.com/) or Wheels for the World (http://www.joniandfriends.org/wheels-for-the-world/) Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. Mount Penn in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit www.LutzFuneralHome.com
