Mary Jane Skowron

Mary Jane (Pizzuto) Skowron, 79, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 in the Reading Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Henry P. Skowron, with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Leone) Pizzuto. Mary Jane graduated from Reading High School and was a member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C.

Mary Jane was dedicated to passing along family traditions and recipes. Anyone that knew her, knew that they were well fed and well taken care of. She was known by many as Nonna, but most importantly by her family.

Mary Jane is survived by her children; Michele, wife of Brian Lauer, Bernadette, widow of Keith Strahin, and Peter Skowron. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Marina Lauer, and brother Samuel L. Pizzuto Jr. Mary Jane was predeceased by her brother George A. Pizzuto.

Visitation with family and friends will be held Friday, February 9, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 12, 2024 beginning at 10:30 am at St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading PA 19606. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road Reading, PA 19605.
