James B. Maurer, 87, formerly of Reading, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in Golden Living Center-Exeter Township. He was the widower of Thelma F. (Hoffmaster) Maurer who passed away August 28, 1996.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Leo and Katherine (Bertolet) Maurer.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Reading. James was a meat cutter for Armour Meat Packing and then worked for Palmer Candies for 20 years until his retirement. He is survived by: One Son: James R. Maurer husband of Lori of Reading and One Grandson: Jeffrey Maurer husband of Ashley of Wyomissing. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Lauretta Jean Maurer.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 26, 2015 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 1559 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, PA 19606.
