Barbara E. May

Barbara E. May, 63, formerly of Mount Penn, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2015 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center after complications from a lengthy illness. She was born September 25, 1951 in Berlin, Germany, a daughter of the late Walter May and Alberta (Hood) May of Mount Penn. Barbara was a graduate of Tulpehocken High School, Penn State University with a degree in Law Enforcement and York College with a degree in Nursing. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist of Philadelphia. She was the first female police officer to serve on the Penn State Police Department in State College and was lastly employed by Einstein Medical Center as a records management auditor. In addition to her mother, Barbara is survived by her siblings Patricia wife of Richard Bittle of Muhlenberg, William (Hoppy) May husband of Jane (Angstat) May of Sinnemahoning, PA, Valerie (Itsy) Kozlowski wife of Andy Kozlowski of Mount Penn; Nieces and Nephews Cathy (Reed) Humphreys, Jamie Williams, Susan (Kozlowski) Tomaszewski, Trisha (Kozlowski) Hicks, Samantha May and great-niece Kayla Wadsley and a great-nephew Michael Tomaszewski. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2015 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn.
