Stewart Mcalvage

Stewart W. McAlvage, 75, of Lower Alsace Township, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 in his residence. He was the husband of Theresa J. (DaDamio) McAlvage. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late William and Sally (Dwyer) McAlvage. He was a 1959 graduate of Reading High School where he was an all-around outstanding athlete. Stew attended and played football for Arizona State University and received several offers by the NFL. He was a respected businessman in the city of Reading for over 50 years owning Stews Keg, Damio’s Sandwich Shop and Uptown News until his retirement. In addition to his wife, Stew is survived by: One Daughter Noelle Janowski of Shillington. He was the loving grandfather to Stewart and Nina Janowski. He is also survived by: Two Sisters: Patricia Ann Jullian of Exeter Township and Jean D. Wawrzyniak of Reading and One Brother: Craig R. McAlvage of Mohrsville and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother: Richard J. Squillace. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. with services beginning at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, August 21, 2015 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn. Interment private at the convenience of the family. Flowers are acceptable or donations of any amount can be made to the Stewart W. McAlvage Scholarship Fund at any Wells Fargo Bank.
