Betty Mell

Betty R. Mell, 88, of Stony Creek, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018, in her home. She was the wife of Richard Mell who passed away on July 27, 1965. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania , she was the daughter of the late Henry Messner and Edna (Huyett) Lantz as well as her foster parents, the late Richard and Elsie Wallace. Betty was a graduate of Reading High School and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Mt. Penn. She was a snagger for Berkshire Knitting Mills and then was employed by AT&T where she held several different positions. Betty is survived by: Three Sons: Philip Mell husband of Brenda of Reiffton, Chris Mell companion of Sue Covine of Stony Creek and Kane Mell fiancee of Debbie Heilman of Alsace Manor; Six Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her siblings: Barbara Edelman, Harry Messner, Charlie Messner, Dennis Wallace, Marie and Carrie. A Graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Rd on Friday November 9 at 10:00 am.
