Jacob P. "Jake" Meyers ,96, of Mount Penn, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017. He was the widower of Shirley A. (Ludwig) Meyers who passed away October 23, 1992. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Jacob P. and Emily S. (Wells) Meyers. Jake was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a former member of the Civil Service Board for the Mount Penn Boro. He was the owner and operator, along with his wife of Jake's of Mount Penn (Sandwich and Variety Store) for 40 years, retiring in 1986. Jake also owned a coal and brick delivery business. After retirement, he was a driver for Omega Labs for many years. Jake is survived by: two daughters, Sharon A. wife of Richard R. Delp of Stony Creek Mills and Shirley A. Hartline of Fleetwood with whom he resided; eight grandchildren, nineteeen great-grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one sister, Joan Meyers of Texas and one grand dog Corkay. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Bernice Fetterolf. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
