Eugene D. Pachuilo

Eugene "Gene" D. Pachuilo, 80, of Reading, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 in the hospice at Reading Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born in Reading to the late Dominic and Gladys (Jones) Pachuilo. Gene is survived by his wife Sandie L. (Shugar) and her family: daughter, Deb Holloway and her husband Brad, grandchildren (Brandon and Ryan) and great-grandchildren (Kali, Rylynn and Reese). He was predeceased by his daughter Karen Kusar and survived by her children, Edward Dollinger and Jamie Siders. Gene is also survived by his sister Corvita Eckenroth of Reiffton and her family. Gene was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Penn High School. He served in the Army, was a bus driver in Reading and later drove tractor trailer for Deka Battery. He also helped operate Pachuilo's Cafe on N. 8th Street in Reading during the 60's, 70's, and 80's. After retiring from Deka Battery, he worked part time for a chauffeuring service. Gene loved being with family and friends. He also enjoyed watching sports and before his illness he had fun playing golf. He will be sadly missed by the many people whose lives he touched with his welcoming manner and friendly demeanor. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
