Patricia A. (Hewitt) Koch, 82, formerly of Oley, PA, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Reading Hospital & Medical Center. She was the wife of Henry M. Koch, Jr., with whom she celebrated 55 years of marriage. Born in West Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Jacqueline (Light) Hewitt. Patti graduated in 1960 from Governor Mifflin High School and in 1963 from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at the Reading Hospital pediatric department and later assisted Dr. Robert Denby’s practice from which she retired to be a homemaker. Patti was devoted to her family, close friends and many community activities, volunteering her time to many worthy causes. She was a lifetime member of the Oley Valley Woman’s Club. Patti was a fixture in the Oley landscape for more than 50 years, often seen walking and biking the bucolic roads of the Valley and being her boys’ biggest cheerleader. A true adventurer and traveler, Patti and Hank enjoyed many trips together from grizzly bear watching in Alaska to hiking and rafting in the Grand Canyon to skiing the Austrian Alps. She was a fierce and fearless competitor, demanding she could do anything her “Boys” could do.
In addition to her husband, Patti is survived by her children; Mark H Koch, husband of Tricia, of Brecknock Township, Andrew M. Koch, husband of Loren, of Williamsport, and Christopher J. Koch, husband of Stacy, of Exeter Township. She is also survived by four grandchildren Logan, Savannah, Addison and Tristan, four great grandchildren and her sister, Laurie Sombers as well as many nieces and nephews. Patti was preceded in death by her sister Donna, brother Michael and grandson, Cody.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. It was Patti’s desire that anyone whom wished to honor her do so by making a contribution in her name to their favorite charity.
