Paul A. Dengler, 75, of Exeter Township, PA, passed away at Penn State Health, St. Joseph Medical Center on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late William Dengler, Sr. and Edith (Adam) Dengler. He was a 1966 graduate of Central Catholic High School. Paul was a proud patriot and was a sergeant in The United States Army, serving in Vietnam. He was an avid golfer, Penn State football fan, and enjoyed running, skiing, going to the gym, and talking politics with anyone who would listen. Paul was pleased to play "Santa" over the years for his grandchildren, neighbors, friends, and The Children's Home of Reading. He supported his community as a past member of the Daniel Boone Optimist Club, serving as President in 1978-1979, and was involved in establishing the Berks County Vietnam Memorial. He provided exceptional service as a Berks County Realtor. Paul most recently worked for Alliance Universal Security Services at Godiva Chocolates. His greatest joys were spending time with his four grandchildren and golfing with his brother and best friend, Leon.
Paul is survived by his loving family, daughter Paula (Dengler), wife of Jonathan Plummer; son Scott Dengler, husband of Mary (Hill); brother William Dengler, husband of Susan (McGrath); brother Leon Dengler; brother-in-law Dennis Slimmer; and many loved nieces, nephews, and friends. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Sean Dengler, Morgan Dengler, Aaron Plummer, and Victoria Plummer, who affectionately called him "Sarge." Paul was preceded in death by his sisters Carolyn (Dengler) Kane and Patricia "Pat" (Dengler) Slimmer.
The battle is over; thank you for your service, Sarge!
