Charles R. Portner

Charles R. Portner, 88, formerly of Northeast Reading, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 in the Berks County Home/Berks Heim. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Mary E. (Clauser) Portner. Charles attended Reading High School and was employed as a machinist with Roeper Crane and Hoist for many years until his retirement He is survived by two sons, Barry D. Portner husband of Doyea and Stephen R. Portner; two daughters, Julieann M. Epler and Cynthia L. Portner; eight grandchildren, fifiteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased by his son, William Charles Portner and his siblings, Walter, Clyde, Mary Johnson and Doris Zellers. Services and interment private at the convenience of the family.
