The Reverend Clarence D. “Hap” Reeser, 93, formerly of Reading, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the widower of Mildred C. (Wolfe) Reeser who passed away June 25, 2005. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Clarence D. and Hannah E. (Rohrbach) Reeser. Rev. Reeser was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was captured in fighting in Normandy that followed the D-Day Invasion and served as chaplain during his confinement at Stalag IV F Prison of War camp near Berlin. He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1940, Muhlenberg College in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts and Philadelphia Seminary in 1953 with a Bachelor of Divinity. Rev. Reeser began his ministry at Longswamp Lutheran Church in Mertztown from 1953-1954 then Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Reading from 1955-1960 and moved on to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Reinerton from 1960-1970 and then became the minister of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Reading from 1970 until his retirement on December 31, 1987. He was also a member of Reformation Lutheran Church-Reiffton. He is survived by two nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Paul H. Reeser. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Mohnsville Cemetery-Mohnton, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 S.
