Leonard (Len) (Lenny) E. Reider, passed away at the home of his sister Janet where he resided for 10 years at the age of 98. Formerly of St Lawrence, he went home to the Lord on August 28, 2022.
He was married to the love of his life June (Lott) for 60 years before her passing in 2010.
Leonard was born in Oley to the late Arthur B. and Eva (Auman) Reider on October 30, 1923. He is survived by two brothers, Vernon of Exeter Township and Dennis of Fleetwood and a sister Janet Papilla of Reiffton. He was predeceased by brothers Arthur J, Richard and Russell and sisters Amelia (Mae) Care, Ethel (Betty) Hohl and Dorothy (Tut) Evans.
A WWII veteran, Leonard was called to duty for the Army and served his country in England. He was part of the second wave landing at Omaha Beach, Normandy for the Invasion and also participated in battles in N. France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, Two Arrowheads, WWII Victory Medal, 03 Riffle Marksmen and Carbine Sharp Shooter.
Mr. Reider was a certified Ford Motor Company mechanic working for Manderbach Ford for 40 years. After retiring he was a courier for Omega Medical Labs and Boscov’s Travel. He was a member of Community UCC, St. Lawrence.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 01, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading PA 19606. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Rd, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516 Topeka, KN 66675.
