Margaret F. Rhein (Garber)

Margaret F. (Garber) Rhein, 84, of Lower Alsace, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023, in Reading Hospital. She was wife of Elwood Rhein with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William Garber and Myrtle Garber (Spies). Margaret graduated from Mt. Penn High School in 1957, and was employed by Western Electric, and then Mountain Spring Association for many years. Margaret was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, and served as secretary for the Lower Alsace Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She raised four wonderful sons, and enjoyed gardening, bus trips, the beach and boat trips at the river ski club.

In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her sons, Greg, husband of JoAnn, Terry, Bradley, husband of Kathy, and Todd. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and two siblings.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with services beginning at 12:00 pm in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, PA 19606. Interment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1375 Friedensburg Road, Reading, PA 19606.
