Robert Edwin Rochelle

Robert Edwin Rochelle, 91, passed away January 30, 2014. He was the loving husband of Edith Gene (Barr) Rochelle for 65 years. Bob was born on January 8, 1923 in Philadelphia, the son of the late Norman H. and Marion S. Rochelle. He graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy in 1942 and was awarded the Merchant Marine Defense, Pacific and Atlantic War Zone Medals. Bob was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, attaining the rank of Lt. Commander. He served on active duty for four years and in the US Naval Reserve for 20 years. During his Naval career, he was awarded the European, Pacific and American Theaters wi th battle stars, Victory and Naval Reserve medals. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Traveler’s Insurance Company for 28 years as a Regional Representative. He volunteered as a TCE, Tax Counselor for the Elderly for many years and served on the Exeter Township Zoning Board. During his 55 years as a member of Schwarzwald U.C.C., he served on the consistory and fulfilled a term as president. Bob is prededed in death by his brothers Norman and Donald Rochelle. In addition to his wife, he is survived by One Son Robert E. Rochelle husband of Amy and One Daughter Renee wife of Greg Weer; Four Grandchildren Alison (Weer) Houck and Emily Weer, Eric and Ryan Rochelle; One Great-Grandson Edward (Eddie) Houck and One Brother Jay C. Rochelle husband of Susan. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the family owned Lutz Funeral Home, Inc.2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn.
