Russell R. Herbein Jr., 76, of Sinking Spring, PA, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Sinking Spring Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the co-owner of Petrucci's Ice Cream. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Russell R. and Ruth E. (Schade) Herbein Sr. Russell graduated from Wilson High School, class of 1964. He proudly served his country in The United States Marines. Russell worked at Sears Roebuck and Company, Richmaid Kitchens, and American Bank and Trust Co. Russell was a Life Member of Optimist International and a very active member of The Spring-Lawn Optimist Club and he loved bowling. Russ had a kind spirit, he was a good man and friend to many, lots of fun to be around, many will miss his friendship and laughter.
Russell is survived by his niece Heidi Stine, fiancé of John Criblear, Great Niece Hallie Stine and his closest friends Guy (Sue) Templin, and Keith (Patricia) Shenk. He was predeceased by his sisters Barbara M. Herbein, and Jane R. Clark and Great nephew Nathaniel Stine.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with services beginning at 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606.
