Evalena C. Salata (Hinnershitz)

Evalena C (Hinnershitz) Salata, 92, lovingly known to many as Aunt Evie, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Berks Heim. Wife of Robert Salata, who passed in 2005. Born in Stony Creek, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Sarah (Cronrath) Hinnershitz. A 1946 graduate of Reading High School, Evalena worked at Berkshire Knitting Mills and The Great Factory Store. In her later years she most enjoyed being a Teachers’ Aide at Winston Hall Montessori School in Mt. Penn.
Evalena is survived by her brother, Thomas Hinnershitz, many nieces, nephews and their families, all of who were all very special to her. She is predeceased by her sister MaryAnn Heming and her brother, Harold Henny.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when it is safe to gather and share memories of Evalena, reminisce about her home on the 'Hill' and feel the love that she shared with all. Interment will be held privately at Spies-Zion Cemetery, Alsace Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League 58 Kennel Rd. Birdsboro, Pa 19508.
