Sallie Lauber Schlegel

Sallie Lauber Schlegel, 87, formerly of Wyomissing and Latham Park, where she was known as Gertrude, passed away in Waverly Heights, Gladwyne, PA on Thursday, August 28, 2014. Sallie was the widow of William Hendel Schlegel who passed away in 2009. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Carl F., Sr. and Gertrude (Fischer) Lauber. Sallie was a graduate of Cheltenham High School and received an associate’s degree from Pierce College. She loved her family and friends, dogs, tennis, music and was a world traveler. Sallie is survived by: One Beloved Son: Jeffrey Schlegel husband of Kathryn Griffo of Ardmore, Four Beloved Step-Sons: William Schlegel husband of Kathy of Novato, CA, Stephen Schlegel husband of Linda of Vienna, VA, Peter Schlegel husband of Nancylee of Wyomissing and Robert Schlegel husband of Dr. Katharine Navone of Sinking Spring; Ten Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a sister Marilyn DesPrez and a brother Carl F. “Buddy” Lauber, Jr. Visitation with the family will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with services beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, PA 19606.
