Gene L. Shimp

Gene L. Shimp 71 of Reading passed away March 17th, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Carolyn J. (Markowski) Shimp Born in Reading he was a son of the late George and Catherine (Geiringer) Shimp . Gene was a crane operator for Dana Corp. for 37 years before retiring in 2000. A member of St Mary’s RCC. Gene was an avid Ham radio operator with the call sign of KB3JPX. He was an Exeter Township Fire Policeman. A life long Lionel train enthusiast he loved fishing and going to the shore. He also loved going to the Leesport Farmers Market to spend time with former Dana co-workers.
In addition to his wife survivors include: Daughter Doreen J. Shimp-Willig wife of Norman Willig of Reading.
Brother: David Shimp of Laureldale. Sisters Marilyn Klinefelter of Emmaus, Judy wife of Robert Ross and Shirley Appoloni both of Laureldale. Grandpups Teddy and Willy.
He was pre-deceased by a sister Eileen Pantaleo.
Friends may call from10:00 to11:00 am on Thursday at the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., Mt. Penn Interment private.
