Edna L. Shugars

Edna L. Shugars, 90, formerly of Pennside, and currently of Wyomissing, passed away Monday, January 14th, 2013 at home where she lived with her daughter Robin and her companion dog Diva. She was the wife of Kenneth C. Shugars who passed away March 22, 2008 and they were married for 67 years. Born in Shillington she was a daughter of the late Alvin L. and Alva V. (Fry) Sweitzer. Edna was a graduate of Shillington High School in 1940 and was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church-Reading. Edna was a bookkeeper for various offices in Reading. She along with her husband then owned the Marvel Ranch Restaurant at 4th and Penn Sts. in Reading for ten years, retiring in 1979. Edna is survived by: Two Daughters: Karen S. wife of Jon E. Fatzinger of Chesterfield, MO and Robin K. widow of George M. Moore; Three Grandchildren: Kurt Fatzinger, Keith Fatzinger h usband of Amy and Kent Fatzinger husband of Sally all of St. Louis, Mo; Three Great-Grandchildren: Steven, Sarah and Caroline. She is also survived by her caretaker Cherie Kauffman. She was pre-deceased by two sisters and three brothers. Services from the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc.2100 Perkiomen Ave. on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 10:00 am. Friends may call from 9:00 am to10:00 am. Entombment in Pleasant View Cemetery.
