Herbert J. Shuman Jr.

Herbert J. Shuman, Jr., 85, of Maidencreek Township, passed away, Monday, June 18, 2018 in Manor Care Laureldale. He was the husband of Shirley J. (Seidel) Shuman. Born in Blandon, he was a son of the late Herbert J. Sr. and Carrie A. (Shade) Shuman. Herbert worked at General Battery, which is now Exide, for 30 years until his retirement and was a member of Zion Spies Evangelical Reformed Church. He was a member of the United States Army, Life Member of Alsace Manor Fire Company, Lower Alsace Fire Company, Blandon Fire Company and a member of Alsace Manor Fire Company Fire Police. In addition to his wife, Herbert is survived by one son Gregory A. Shuman of Reading and one daughter Cheryl L. Schell wife of David; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one brother Robert of Blandon. He is predeceased by brothers Raymond, Lee and Ralph. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, PA 19606.
