Glenn R. Slater

Glenn R. Slater, 92, of Reading, Pennsylvania, passed quietly on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at Encompass Health Rehab Hospital. Born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Kenneth A. and Lucille (Harrold) Slater, and loving husband of the late Rita F. (Merlino) Slater. Glenn proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army, serving abroad during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, as well as time spent overseas in Germany and Japan. Following his time with the Army, Glenn retired from his position as purchasing manager with Gilbert Commonwealth. Glenn was loved for his kindness and good nature, as well as his great sense of humor, always sharing a good joke to make others smile. He loved music, had a terrific singing voice, loved his cars (a total of 57 owned throughout his lifetime), and pretty much anything related to Japan, one of his favorite places on earth.

Glenn is survived by his daughter, Nita Rae Slater.
