Harry E. Smedley

Harry E. Smedley, 83, formerly of Cotton Street and most recently of Kutztown, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Dolores A. (Mickshaw) Reichert Smedley. His first wife, Sevilla H. (Derricott) Smedley passed away January 16, 1975. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harry W. and Hattie (Krzyzanowski) Smedley. Harry was a member of Calvary Baptist Church-Reading. He was also a member of the East Ends Athletic Association and was a lover of cars. He was a trimmer for various shoe factories for many years until his retirement. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by a daughter, Shaun S. wife of David Madary of Topton; two grandchildren, Haylie and Tyler Madary; step-children, Vicki wife of Thomas Haag of Schuylkill Haven and Gerald Reichert of Orwigsburg; step-grandchildren, Thomas, Mike and Jeff Haag and Nick Reichert; step-great-grandchildren, Connor and Taylor Haag and Nico Reichert and one sister, Gloria Hoffman of Sinking Spring. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Peggy Mazzo. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in Calvary Baptist Church, 500 Park Ave., Reading, PA 19611.
