Margaret Smith

Margaret A. "Peggy" Smith, 86, formerly of Exeter Township, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 in The Lutheran Home at Topton-Henry Healthcare Center. She was the widow of John M. "Jack" Smith who passed away February 15, 2012. Born in Blawnox, PA , she was a daughter of the late Edward H. and Elsie E. (Best) Poth. Peggy was a graduate of the Mason Frederick Beauty School and was a member of Christ Episcopal Church were she was active with the Altar Guild, Prayer Shawl Committee and a Sunday School Teacher. She was a leader for the Brownie's, Girl Scouts and Cadets and was the past president and Chief Thief of the Quaker 8's Square Dance Club. Peggy was employed by Elizabeth Arden Beauty Salon in Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by one son, Harry W. Smith husband of Nan of Elyria, Ohio; two daughters, Helen A. wife of Michael Goodwin of Muhlenberg Township and Martha L. wife of David Goldstein of Maidencreek Township; four grandchildren, Ian husband of Janel of Ohio, Holden of Ohio, Brandi of Michigan and Steven fiancee of Stephanie Flint of Boyertown and one sister, Helen Stubbs of Alabama. Peggy was pre deceased by a sister Elsie Swan. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday January 18 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with services beginning at 2:00 pm at the Topton Lutheran Home Auditorium, 1 South Home Ave, Topton PA 19562 Interment is private in Christ Episcopal Church Columbarium.
