Robert T. Spayd

Robert T. Spayd, 87, formerly of Exeter Township and Wyomissing, passed away Sunday, July 14th, 2013 in the Phoebe Berks Healthcare Center. He was the widower of Florence M. (Bieber) Spayd who passed away November 29, 1991. Born in Alsace Township, he was a son of the late Edwin and Sarah (Readinger) Spayd. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the Landing Ship-LST-317 in Normandy on D-Day. He was a member of Community U.C.C., St. Lawrence. Robert was an automobile mechanic for 30 years for Marshall Chevrolet in Reading and then became the owner/operator of Spayd and Gernert Auto in West Reading for 5 years until his retirement. Robert is survived by: One Son: Larry R. Spayd husband of Shirley of Spring Township; One Daughter: Sheila Bohn companion of Thomas O’Connor of Exeter Township; Three Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildr en; Three Brothers: Earl, Russell and Dennis and Four Sisters: Betty, Mary, Eva and Sandy. Funeral Services will be held in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn on Thursday at11:00 am. Friends may call from 10:00 am to11:00 am. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
