Erma A. Swope, 92, of Mount Penn, passed away, Wednesday, February 3rd, 2016 in the Mifflin Center. She was the widow of Richard Swope who passed away January 17, 1998. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Josiah and Mabel (Enoch) Leinbach. Erma was a graduate of Mount Penn High School in 1941 and Albright College in 1945 with a B.S. in Home Economics. While at Albright, she was the starting center for the lady Lions for all four years and was a member of the Phi Beta Mu Sorority. Erma was a former member of the Mount Penn Recreation Board and served on the Antietam School Board for 12 years. She was very active in the ladies auxillary for the Antietam Valley Recreation Center. Erma taught at Wilson High School from 1946-1951. She was an Officer of J.W. Leinbach Hardware Inc. and later became a bookeeper for the Mountain Springs Association from 1976-2000. Erma is survived by: Three Sons: James R. Swope husband of Nancy S. of Lower Alsace Township, David T. Swope of Mount Penn and Frederick A. Swope husband of Nancy E. of Gov. Mifflin; Five Grandchildren: Kristel M., Samantha A., Kara A., Pamela N., and Scott J.; Sister-In-Law: Beverly widow of John C. Leinbach of Mt. Penn as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her Brothers, John C. Leinbach and Paul H. Leinbach. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9:30 am to 10:30 am with services beginning at 10:30 am in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Mount Penn on Monday February 8, 2016.
