Donald W. Thomas, 83, of Exeter Township, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 in his residence. He was the husband of Helen E. (Martz) Thomas. Born in Shamokin, he was a son of the late W. Alfred and Lillian (Daniels) Thomas. Don was a member of Pennside Presbyterian Church and a United States Army veteran. Over his career he had many accomplishments and held many different roles and positions but overall he was so proud to have been a part of the Exeter School District. In addition to his wife, Don is survived by one son, David D. Thomas husband of Helen of Boyertown and one daughter, Donna J. O'Brien of St. Lawrence; four grandchildren, Matt husband of Jocelyn of IL, Megan O'Brien fiance of Dave Speece of Philadelphia, Scott husband of Rebecca of St. Lawrence and Amanda wife of Shawn Whitfield of New York City as well as two great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two sisters, Jean Dilliplane and Marion Reed. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10:00 am-12:00 noon with services beginning at 12:00 noon in Pennside Presbyterian Church, 253 N. 25th Street, Reading, PA 19606. Interment private. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. Mount Penn in charge of arrangements.
