Esther Gladys Thomas, 89, of Pennside, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2014 at The Highlands in Wyomissing, PA. She was the loving and dedicated wife of William P. Thomas with whom she celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 24. She was a daughter of the late George F. and Mamie G. (Fisher) Weber. Esther volunteered in many capacities throughout her life and was employed at the former St. Lawrence Lucheonette, Berkshire Knitting Mills and Jetco. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church and the Saint Xenia Philoptochos Society where she served as secretary for many years in the former St. Matthew’s Greek Orthodox Church. She was a Royal Lady, Past Royal Matron and current member of Reading Court No. 61, Order of Amaranth (Masonic Center Foundation). In addition to her husband, Esther is survived by her daughters Kathy wife of Mike Moyer and Joanne wife of Brian Koch. She is lovingly called Ya Ya, by her seven grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Mildred Zimmerman. Esther was the most genuine nurturer and caretaker and became an immediate friend of anyone she met. As a petite lady she had a huge heart full of love, especially for “her Bill”. Her appreciation for life and all it offered her was unparalleled and her favorite color was blue.
