Sarah M. "Sally" Walters

Sarah M. “Sally” Walters, 83, of Reiffton, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013 with her family by her side. She was the widow of John D. Walters who passed away August 22, 2011. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Clarence W., Sr. and Marguerite (Reynolds) Moon. Sally was a graduate of Mount Penn High School in 1947 and Lake Erie College-Painesville, OH in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She was a member of Pennside Presbyterian Church. She was the President of the Church Women United of Berks County, the Presbyterian Women of Pennside Presbyterian Church, Past Moderator of the Lehigh Presbytery and a member of the American Legion Auxillary Unit #934. Sally was a medical technologist, training at St. Joseph Hospital in Reading and was employed by St. Luke Hospital-New York City, Lancaster General Hospital and Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital. She was lastly employed by Reading Hospital as supervisor in the Blood Bank for 27 years, retiring in 1990. She is survived by: One Nephew: Robert Moon husband of Jo Ann, and One Great Nephew: Jason husband of Ashleigh, and many neighbors and friends whose lives she touched throughout the years. She was pre-deceased by a brother: Clarence W. Moon, Jr.. Memorial Services will be held at Pennside Presbyterian Church 253 N. 25th Street Reading, PA 19606 on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Interment private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Endowment Fund of Pennside Presbyterian Church at the above stated address or the Animal Rescue League P.O. Box 69 Mohnton, PA 19540.
