Edward V. Whalen, Jr., 66, of Exeter Township, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Constance M. (Ulmer) Whalen. Born in Pottsville and raised in Cumbola, PA he was a son of the late Edward V. Sr. and Mary J. (Sierakowski) Whalen. Ed was a graduate of Nativity BVM High School in 1966 and was a United States Army Veteran as a member of the National Guard Armory in Hometown, PA. He loved fishing, golfing, and tennis and was a member of the senior golf league at Flying Hills, however his favorite sport was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was their biggest fan and loved his time spent with them. Ed was employed by Firestone and later employed as a salesman for Armor Co. and State Chemical Co. until his retirement. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by: Two Daughters: Pam wife of Sean Hoffman of Exeter Township and Jennifer wife of Chris Nein of Reiffton ; Six Grandchildren: Andrew, Eric, Emily, Luke, Parker and Nate; One Sister: Mary wife of Charlie Macunas and One Brother: Michael Whalen husband of Pam. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:00 A.M. with memorial services beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn. Interment private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Exeter Alumni Association at 200 Elm Street Reading, PA 19606.
