Cary G. Whitman,77, of St Lawrence, passed, Sunday, June 25, 2017 in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Judith A. (Schmoyer) Whitman with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert H. and Margaret E. (Gillmor) Whitman. Cary was a 1958 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. He was a member of Schwarzwald U.C.C. where he was on the consistory, treasurer of the church and the pre school as well as the president of the cemetery association. He was a member of the POS of A for over 50 years where he served as past president and past county president. Cary was also a member of the St. Lawrence borough council and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was an avid card player, bowler in the Reading Senior Men's League at Bowl O Rama and a true Philadelphia Sports Fan. He was also a PIAA and ASA baseball umpire. Cary was a salesman for most of his life, mostly for General Tire. He is survived by one son James M. husband of Lisa of Lancaster, two daughters Tracy A. Whitman and Susan D. wife of David Eggert both of St. Lawrence, three grandchildren Katie, Chloe, and Gage, three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Dean J. husband of Sharon of Sinking Spring. Cary was pre deceased by a brother, Robert H. Jr. Cary deeply loved his family, church and his country. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Thursday June 29, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at Lutz Funeral Home Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606. Services will be held on Friday June 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at Schwarzwald U.C.C., 75 Church Lane Rd., Reading, PA 19606. Interment in Schwarzwald Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Schwarzwald U. C. C Memorial Fund at the above address.
