Donald J. Witman

The long, happy, fulfilling life of a devoted father and husband ended December 11, 2021. Donald Joseph Witman, 93, was a proud graduate of West Reading High School where he excelled at sports and met and married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis (Collins). He received a basketball scholarship from Albright College, and during his life, expressed gratitude for the opportunities this education created for him.
D.J. was a successful businessman who, with family, started D.J. Witman Fuel Oil Co. Upon retirement, he enjoyed golf, fishing, travel, and most especially time spent with friends and family camping in Canada.
Don was born January 1928. He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Phyllis Collins Witman, brother Richard, and sister Lucille. Surviving are daughter Jean (J. Randall) Miller of Wyomissing and their children Scott, Kristen, Erica, and Kevin; Donna (Jacques) Lescan of Antibes, France and their children, Laura and Marina. There are five great grandchildren.
