William Woodward

November 18, 1923 — April 1, 2017

William Woodward, 93, formerly of Exeter passed away, Saturday, April 1, 2017 in Alexandria Manor, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Joyce H. (Hemminger) Woodward who passed away May 7, 1992 and his second wife Elna (Eames) Woodward who passed away December 31, 2014. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harold and Lyde (Miller) Woodward. Bill attended Penn State University and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he became a pilot flying a torpedo bomber. Bill later became the co-owner of Excelsior Brass from 1950-1978 when the business was sold. He was last working as a consultant for Excelsior Brass which he did until 1991. He enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting his favorite spot which was a hunting lodge owned by the family in Maryland "Dunwurkyn." Bill is survived by one son, Jeffrey Todd Woodward husband of Diane of Bethlehem, two grandchildren, Drew Woodward husband of Jayme and Jessica Gubich wife of Jeremy and great grand children Jayden, Kylie, Gaige and Zion. Bill is also survived by the extended family of Elna which he loved and cherished for 20 years. He was pre deceased by a son Kirk John Woodward and two brothers Thomas and Jim Woodward. Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc 2100 Perkiomen Ave Reading 19606. Interment is private in Maidencreek Cemetery,Blandon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Peaceable Kingdom 1049 MacArthur Rd. Whitehall, PA 18052.
