​Michael Luther Wummer, 62, of Exeter Township, passed away Sunday, July 5th, 2015 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, PA, due to complications from lung transplantation. He was surrounded by his loving family. Michael was a graduate of Reading High School in 1973 as well as Kutztown University where he earned a Degree in Business Administration. He also received a graduate degree from the ABA Stonier Graduate School of Banking.
​Michael was a beloved husband, father, brother, and businessman. His career spanned three decades and was considered by his colleagues to be an innovator in banking and finance. Michael worked for 27 years with National Penn Bank, lastly serving as Executive Senior Vice President. He went on to became a consultant and Executive Vice President for Bank Strategies Group, Louisville, KY. His interests included glassblowing and orchid growing along side of his sons, as well as a fascination with music production and performing. He also had a great appreciation for fine foods and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. His sense of humor and personality were both larger than life, and he always kept those close to him laughing. Michael truly enjoyed life, and had the opportunity to offer his experiences to other patients that suffered from Alpha-1 Antitripsyn Deficiency during lectures he gave that were organized by CSL Behring. He cared deeply for his fellow man, and never passed up an opportunity to help anyone.
​Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Rene’ A. (Durinzi) Wummer, and two sons, Zachary M. Wummer and Andrew M. Wummer of Exeter Township. He is also survived by his brother Robert F. Wummer husband of Sandra L. of Denver, PA and sister Patricia A. wife of Robert Moser of Fountain Hills, AZ. Nothing surpassed Michael’s love of his wife and family. He was an extremely caring and nurturing man who was passionate about cultivating growth and creativity in those he cared for.
​Visitation with family and friends will be held from 9:00-11:00 A.M. with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. On Saturday, July 11, 2015 in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn, PA. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
