Barry Ziegler ,74 ,of Exeter Township, passed away,Sunday, August 16th, 2015 in Penn State Health- St. Joseph Medical Center . He was the husband of Shelby M. (Matthews) Ziegler of Harrisburg since 1971. Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late John and Esther (McKelly) Ziegler . Barry was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster in 1959 and was a member of Community U.C.C.-St. Lawrence. Barry worked as an Apprentice and Journeyman Printer at the Lancaster Press from June of 1959 until May of 1965. He was then associated with the Nationwide Insurance Company for 38 1/2 years as an agent in Lancaster, a Sales Manager in Dauphin County and Clark's Summit for 5 1/2 years and then Berks County as a sales representative from 1977 until retiring in December 2004.He was the past president of the Scranton Association of Life Underwriters for many years and taught both the LUTC 1 and II classes. He umpired baseball for one year and fast pitch softball for 5 years while in Lancaster traveling to Honey Brook to umpire in the Softball tournaments. He officiated High School Swimming, Track and Basketball for 22 years and Football for 35 years and was the Commissioner of Officials for 15 years for the Berks County Football Officials Association. He was a member of the PIAA for 37 years and a life member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He was a life member of the Reiffton Fire Company Social Club and served as a trustee for many years. Barry also served on the Berks County Youth Aid Panel in Exeter Township and was elected to a 6 year term as a Supervisor for the Exeter Township Board of Supervisors in 2014. In addition to his wife, Barry is survived by: Three sons: Keith of Irvine, CA, Gregg of Las Vegas, NV and Douglas husband of Alison of Reading; Two Grandsons Troy and Cody and two granddaughters Brooke and Quinn Ziegler and One Brother: Donald of Lewes, DE He was pre-deceased by his twin sister: Brenda Benner and his brother, John, Jr. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 pm 8:00 pm on Thursday Evening and again on Friday Morning from 10:00-11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt.
